China has eased entry for many travellers in recent years, with expanding visa-free transit and trial visa-free entry for a growing list of countries. Rules change, so always confirm the current policy for your nationality before you book — but here is the lay of the land.
近年中國對許多旅客放寬入境，過境免簽不斷擴展，免簽試點國家名單也在增加。政策時有變動，訂票前請務必依據國籍核實最新規定——以下為大致情況。
Three common routes in
- Visa-free entry — citizens of a growing list of countries may enter for tourism for a set number of days. Check whether yours is included and the current day limit.免簽入境——越來越多國家公民可免簽旅遊停留若干天。請核實本國是否在列及當前停留天數。
- Visa-free transit — if you are passing through to a third country/region, many travellers qualify for a multi-day transit stay via eligible ports.過境免簽——若經停前往第三國/地區，許多旅客可經合資格口岸享數日過境停留。
- Tourist (L) visa — the standard route if neither applies; apply through a Chinese visa centre before travel.旅遊（L）簽證——若上述均不適用的常規方式，出行前經中國簽證中心申請。
Small practicalities that matter
